Police have made public alarming footage showing a driver executing hazardous drifting maneuvers around a roundabout during an illegal car meet, placing spectators at significant danger of harm.

An individual aged 23 from Southampton received a 27-week prison sentence, deferred for one year, after pleading guilty to reckless operation of a vehicle.

Additionally, the court issued a one-year license suspension and ordered community service along with a behavioral course.

Details of the Incident

According to authorities, the recording was captured at an illegal automobile gathering in Portsmouth on 28 December 2024, showing the driver driving a distinctive colored vehicle.

“This footage shows the alarming incident when a dangerous motorist skidded around a traffic circle at an unauthorized vehicle event, as crowds looked on ignoring the danger of severe harm.”

Police representatives stated that over two hundred violations related to illegal car meets in the region have been addressed in approximately 12 months.

Official Statement

An officer remarked: “Residents, drivers and our roads policing teams have had enough with these groups of motorists selfishly taking over streets and parking areas and we will not tolerate it.”

He added: “They are not only a complete nuisance, but they also put participants and uninvolved individuals at risk of serious injury.”

The statement concluded: “Our efforts will persist to take legal action against these drivers and I trust these latest incidents act as a warning: you will face consequences.”
