Vehicles in Germany's City Discovered Covered with Swastikas in Human Blood, Police Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Officers reported they were notified by a man who discovered a car in Hanau marked with red-colored fluid

Roughly fifty cars have been marked with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.

Cars, building surfaces and postal boxes were defaced, sometimes with swastikas, they reported in a official communication.

Officers state they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a individual noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored fluid.

The substance had been placed in the pattern of a banned symbol, they stated.

Law enforcement then found many other smeared automobiles and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.

Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.

Officials state preliminary tests indicate the substance was likely blood from a person.

"At present there remains no indication as to where it came from; investigators are not yet informed of any harm in connection with the occurrence," they added.

City officials stated they were attempting "to unravel the case" and have appealed to the community for information.

A senior political figure stated the incident rendered him stunned and had to be resolved promptly.

"This event affects the core of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the right-wing attack half a decade ago," he stated on online, recalling the killing of nine individuals by a assailant targeting residents of immigrant origin in 2020.
