Mohamed Salah Offers Regret to Squad, Discloses Curtis Jones
The Liverpool midfielder has disclosed that the Egyptian forward apologised to the group of players in the wake of the uproar from his televised remarks.
The Incident
He was omitted from a key Champions League match following making accusations and claiming his connection to the head coach had broken down.
“Salah is an individual and he can say his own stuff,” the midfielder said. “His apology was clear and was like: ‘If I’ve affected anybody, I'm sorry.’”
The head coach has refused to reveal on whether he got an explanation from the player.
Looking Ahead
The player stated that the dressing room atmosphere was unchanged. “Nothing about him changed, his demeanour was positive and everybody was exactly the same with him,” he continued.
The midfielder also implied that a teammate fighting for a place is preferable. “I understand there are certain ways you can handle situations,” he said. “Yet, should someone be happy to just be on the bench, then I think that’s concerning.”
On-Field Response
The team's performance have remained strong in the matches since the initial controversy. He feels the forward's comments were not intended to destabilise the squad.
“If passion has boiled over, it’s always been from a place of caring,” the midfielder stated. “It's behind us and we’re building chemistry, playing well and starting to win games.”
