Jurgen Klopp states coming back to coach Liverpool is theoretically possible.

The German coach, who departed from Liverpool in 2024, indicated that rejoining the club remains something that could happen. The 58-year-old, following a hugely successful near-decade reign which brought continental glory and ending the club's long wait in 30 years, currently occupies positions in a global football capacity with the Red Bull group and providing guidance for the DFL.

Supporters’ Hopes and His Frank Comments

Liverpool won the league title last season, but many fans who adore the manager would be thrilled by the idea that he may eventually return. In a wide-ranging interview, he told Steven Bartlett: “I declared I won't manage any other side on English soil. Which implies should it be the Reds...yes. In theory, it could happen.”

“At 58 years old, which suggests the choice could be mine in a few years, who knows. Must I choose now? If so, I wouldn't return. But thank God, I don’t have to do that. I can just see what lies ahead.”

Conditions for a Comeback

When asked about what circumstances must arise to tempt his return to the dugout, he confessed he feels no immediate pull for a comeback. “I'm not entirely sure, I enjoy my current role,” he stated. “No longing for management; No desire to be in the rain for two-and-a-half or three hours; No need for press conferences four times, three times a week or doing numerous chats each week.

“I don’t miss the dressing room per se, however, dining out with the team having a nice chat, that’s nice. With many victories thus frequently great spirits at the club. I can still hear Virgil [Van Dijk’s] laugh ringing in my ears for example.”

Praise for His Successor

Klopp was full of praise regarding Arne Slot, praising him for the adjustments that won the league last term. They've been defeated four consecutive matches across various tournaments following significant transfers, but he rubbished the idea of it representing a decline.

“[Liverpool have] an incredible striker like Florian Wirtz, you will all eat your words if you use the wrong words. An outstanding player. [Hugo] Ekitike, incredible player. They have a strong balanced team. Fans shouldn't fret about Liverpool, they'll bounce back.”

Heartfelt Words for Diogo Jota

He shared movingly about the death of the Portuguese star, a player he signed during his tenure, and its impact on Liverpool. The forward died tragically in a vehicle collision alongside his brother recently.

“Who can fill the void of a person like him? It goes beyond his footballing ability, it’s the guy he was. I can’t imagine the dressing room missing him. I find it difficult to discuss about it. A devastating blow for the entire squad too. No one within the club would cite it for poor performances though it's a fact. Being in that space which he filled completely. Handling this on a personal level is not easy. Impossible.”
