Iran Reports Attack on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, As Part of Widespread Military Operations.
Iranian forces say they have struck a American military facility in Manama, as Iran launched operations throughout the Middle East in response for a significant and ongoing assault targeting the nation by the US and Israel.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity in the area of the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The extent of any impact is unclear and the United States has yet to issue a statement.
Regional Interceptions
Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - said they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their airspace.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had intercepted several missiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the region.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared it was striking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the strikes on Iran launched by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.
That initial attack - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on areas linked to the the regime, with US President Donald Trump calling on the people of Iran to rise up against the leadership.
Wider Impacts
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The defence ministry of the UAE stated that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses responded to the projectiles with high efficiency and successfully intercepted a series of missiles," it added.
It said missile fragments fell on a residential area in the capital, causing some structural damage and the death of one civilian.
The United States Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
