Followers Call for Arrest of Man Who Touched Ariana Grande
Passionate fans of the pop star are demanding that a man who leaped a barricade and seized the actress during Thursday's Wicked: For Good launch be arrested or removed from Singapore.
A circulating video depicts the individual from Australia shoving aside camera operators and lunging at Grande while the performers walked down a promenade flanked by onlookers.
Co-star Cynthia Erivo quickly guided the shocked star away from Mr Wen, who was seen being removed of the gathering by guards.
Mr Wen stated on Instagram recently that he was "free after being taken in", though official papers revealed that he was due to be present on Friday morning. It is not clear if he was faced legal action.
Pattern of Disruptions
This is not the first time for Mr Wen, who calls himself a "Controversial Figure", has invaded a performance. His Instagram feed contains videos of him disturbing other star-studded functions, including jumping on stage at the pop singer's Sydney concert in earlier this year and in a comparable manner during The Chainsmokers event in the area last year.
"There needs to be action enforced against him as this is obviously a punishable act," wrote an Instagram follower, in a response to a video Mr Wen posted of his actions.
"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" a different Instagram user wrote.
Supporters Express Concern Over Ariana's Past Trauma
Many supporters criticized Mr Wen for "triggering past anxiety" Grande, who had discussed suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder after a suicide bomb attack at the conclusion of her spring 2017 show in Manchester, killing 22 people and injuring many.
"Ariana has been through so many scary things... and at her Manchester concert and you thought it would be fun to jump the barricade?" wrote a further comment on Instagram.
Some fans also questioned event staff at the Thursday event for not being adequately prepared; while different individuals demanded digital services to ban Mr Wen's uploads.
Response and Premiere Information
In footage spreading on the internet, Grande looked surprised when she was grabbed by the man. Her fellow actors Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be seen comforting her while Mr Wen was escorted away by guards.
Grande has remained silent on the event, and the rest of the event continued without further issues.
Numerous of fans had assembled in a mass of emerald and rose at the Wicked: For Good regional premiere in a Singapore shopping center, including some who had queued for as long as a significant duration before it commenced.
The film, to be premiered on the 21st of November, is the sequel of a two-film adaptation of the acclaimed stage musical Wicked, which centers on the unlikely relationship between two very different witches.
The show itself is a derivative of the 1900 story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who plays the benevolent sorceress Glinda, was adorned in a light pink sequin dress at the gathering while Erivo, who acts as the villainous character, wore a elegant ensemble embroidered with roses.
They were accompanied by cast member Jeff Goldblum.
The previous installment, Wicked, was the highest-grossing motion picture of last year in the UK, and received 10 Academy Award nods, earning several for best costume and set decoration.
